Breakfast burritos (which were incredibly delicious) at 6:30, followed by worship led by Paul and Erica. We loaded up the vans to make the final push.
Tim and Judi's team finished one wall of siding, primed and painted at least one coat on all the baseboards, then took care of the lawn, which hadn't been done in about a month. Very minor injuries were the only things we suffered...big bites and a small burn on equipment, all treatable by the first aid kit. We tried a local seafood place, checking out shrimp po' boys and trying boiled crawfish. Some of the girls loved them and finished off the pound we ordered. We broke work a little early so we could visit our homeowner's business, a 'snowball' stand where she made the deliciously flavored snow cones individually for us. Our favorite ministry staffer, Ariaelle, took us on a tour of the lower 9th ward, which was quite moving.
Luke and Lynnette's team hung more Sheetrock and insulation. In fact, rumor has it there was an insulation contest/war. Some of the team split off to help finish the roof with Dan and Paul.
Paul and Dan's team finished the entire roof (except for a ridge cap that was not in stock), but were an hour late for dinner. They were some tired workers, but their homeowner was thrilled.
Bill and Kaitlin's team finished tiling the hallway, grouting the kitchen and bathroom and finished scraping up the rest of the old tile. Their homeowner treated them to a po' boy lunch.
Dinner was a baked potato bar, but before we could eat, Luke and the other youth pastor had a Michael Jackson dance-off to see who would take home the poster commemorating the 15,000th volunteer to work for this organization.
Free time was welcome, to finish showering and packing up for our departure from LA in the morning.
