Tim and Judi's team got to hanging siding, and nearly finished one side. Trim work was primed and painted. But the highlight was finally getting to meet our homeowner, Miss Mary. We heard her story of the damage, getting her family out of Katrina's way and how a contractor took her money, showed her pictures, but took the lumber and appliances and everything right out the back door. To make matters worse, thrives broke in and stole all the copper plumbing from her nearly completed home. Miss Mary brought her sister and her own daughter and granddaughter to meet us and see the progress. We went out to eat with a TouchGlobal staffer who lives towards Tulane, and she took us to a restaurant to have some barbecue..all the ribs and chicken and cornbread we could eat, and some of the best fresh squeezed lemonade we ever had.
We did have a little excitement in the neighborhood on the levy, but always felt safe We had the best day yet...meeting Mary, talking with Ed, who lives down the street, hearing Ariaelle's story, having great food and then after a really meaningful discussion, watching the sun set over Lake Pontchetrain on our drive home. I don't think I could have asked for a better day.
Since our team for home late, and I didn't get a shower until 9, I don't know how the other teams days were. The kids all were hanging out in the gathering room talking, playing euchre and watching something on an iPad. Since bedtime is 10, which is pretty early for teens, getting them to settled down to sleep is sometimes pretty tough.
